Forêt-moteur is a band located between my village, in Sud-Essonne, and my room, in Paris.

I record the sounds in and around the village: the wind, the quad and dirtbikes, the birds, the chainsaws, the booming voices, the glades, the stables, the falling pickaxes.

Then, in my room in Paris, I play my guitar along to those sounds. I like when the melody melds with the whisper of the plain between Baulne and Mondeville, with the clinks of construction, and it grates.

Forêt-moteur sings the adventures of the heroes and heroines of Gâtinais. For example, the man nicknamed De Gaulle, who has a dip in his forehead, who hauls straw 70 hours a week and who knows every tobacconist and snack shack from Melun to Fontainbleau, beyond even Gâtinais—that man is a hero to me.

Forêt-moteur is at once the noise of memory, a documentary on the countryside outside of Paris, and the harsh melodies of a wood-chipper.

Forêt-moteur est un groupe qui se situe entre mon village du Sud-Essonne et ma chambre à Paris.

Au village et aux alentours, j'enregistre le son. Le vent, les quads, les cross, les oiseaux, les tronçonneuses, les grosses voix, les clairières, les écuries, les pioches.

Ensuite, je joue de la guitare dans ma chambre à Paris en écoutant les sons. J'aime bien quand la mélodie s'enchevêtre avec le souffle de la plaine, entre Baulne et Mondeville, les coups des chantiers, et que ça grince.

Forêt-moteur chante les épopées physiques des héros et des héroïnes du Gâtinais. Par exemple, celui qu'on surnomme De Gaulle, qui a un fossé à la place du front, qui soulève de la paille soixante-dix heures par semaine, et qui connaît tous les buralistes et les snacks entre Melun et Fontainebleau, donc même au-delà du Gâtinais, pour moi c'est un héros.

Forêt-moteur c'est à la fois le bruit du souvenir, un documentaire sur une campagne proche de Paris, et la mélodie rêche d'un broyeur à bois.
